Our Active Minds Group restarted today, during Dementia Action Week 2019, and will continue with an extension until April 2020, thanks to the ongoing support of Durham County Council.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community and enhance your employability prospects.
The East Durham Community Trust is looking for new volunteers for the Community Coaches project. We are looking for: - a) Volunteers to help fill in forms, signpost and refer clients to other organisations and help with housing advice/Budgeting/Welfare Support. b) Volunteers who can drive to help accompany clients to access community events and activities. Also help clients attending Benefit appointments for extra support. Full training will be given and expenses will be paid for any travel that is undertaken for the role. "Thank You" Creative Champion Volunteers for helping to make 'If These Walls Could Talk' possible17/5/2019
We would like to give a massive shout out and say "thank you" to all the Creative Champion Volunteers who made East Durham Creates If These Walls Could Talk possible! Many of them gave up huge amounts of their time to man bus shelters, some were there at 5.30am until late at night and all of them were friendly faces for the thousands of people who engaged with event throughout the day. All in the scorching heat! Thank you Creative Champions, we couldn't do it without you.
There are probably volunteers we didn't get photos of so "thank you" to them too! We are delighted to announce that our Active Minds Group is continuing with an extension until April 2020 thanks to the support of Durham County Council Adult Health Services.

"Thank you" to Community Officers PCSO Vikki Gill and PCSO Simon Walters (pictured above with East Durham Trust's Community Development and Funding Officer Colin Jackson) of Peterlee Police's Beat Team who brought in a generous donation of non-perishable food and toiletry items to our foodbank today, in response to our recent call-out for urgent supplies due to depleted stocks as a result of ever-increasing demands.

A huge "Thank You" to Eden Hill Peoples Centre and Groundworks, Peterlee for responding to our call out for urgently needed food items for our FEED project. In a joint effort between both groups, staff and members of the public made cash donations which were then used to purchase a variety of staple non-perishable food items, essential for replenishing our ever-depleting stocks, as demand for food parcels continues to soar.
