 On International Women's Day we would like to celebrate all the incredible women we have worked with.
Most recently through our Arts Council England project East Durham Creates we have been working with young people, in a project called 'No More Shy Bairns'. Young women were shown Vote 100: Born a Rebel which is about the northern Suffragette movement. This inspired them to create their own poetry through a workshop with spoken word artist Jess Green. From here the group got involved in our 'No More Nowt Happens' project and organised a spoken word night. And if that wasn't enough some of the brave young woman performed some of their poetry to a crowd of over 80 people. Comments are closed.
