Become a Food Crisis Volunteer Driver and provide invaluable help in the operation of East Durham’s Trust emergency food provision.
As a Food Crisis Volunteer Driver, you will be supporting the delivery of food to families across East Durham in financial crisis, ensuring that households do not go hungry this winter.
This role involves a variety of tasks. These may include:
Collecting donations of food from local donation points such as schools, businesses, shops and community premises
Delivering emergency food parcels to local community venues and/or people’s homes across East Durham
Delivering hot food to local people in financial hardship across East Durham as part of the People’s Takeaway service
Planning your route to make the most efficient use of time and resources
Desirable Criteria:
Enthusiasm, empathy, and a non-judgemental attitude
Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
The ability to work alone and unsupervised
A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
Minimum age 18
Be able to lift and carry heavy items safely
Be willing to complete an induction and appropriate training
Commitment of at least 2 hours a week
Availability during office hours (9am to 5pm Mon to Thurs and 4.30pm Fridays)
