Emotional Wellbeing Project

The Emotional Wellbeing service, offers a range of positive, fun activities for children and young people aged 5-19 years across the Easington area.  It is funded through the Local Children’s Board, Easington and was developed in response to local consultation with young people and their parents and carers.  Two hours of high quality positive activities are delivered three times per week in a variety of areas across East Durham by skilled staff.

Activities are tailored to have a positive impact on children’s emotional wellbeing through the provision of ‘places to go and things to do’ and are delivered at neighbourhood level.  The service is part of a seamless integrated three tier service, offering children and families access to tier 0 Activities, tier 1 Active Listening and tier 2 Counselling services as required.

Young people have said:

“I like it when you come to our Estate...my mam lets me play out.”
“I like the Play Rangers in the holidays because if they didn’t come out we would have nothing to do.”
“I get to practise my singing”
“I started off knowing nothing but I’ve learnt a lot”
“Something to do during spare time”
“Make new friends”
“It’s mint playing on the games”

The Emotional Wellbeing project was supported by Durham County Council.
