Community Job Fairs Attract Big Crowds Looking For Employment Opportunities
East Durham Trust's Community Job Club, funded by the AAP, hosted two hugely successful Job Fairs during the half term holidays. A wide range of organisations including major recruiters for the East Durham area, the National Careers Service and organisations dealing with apprenticeships and volunteering all gathered together to share information with residents of East Durham. It also helped to raise the profile of our Community Job Club which is a really accessible way to look for work.
On the afternoon of Wednesday February 17th over 100 people from Dawdon flocked to Dawdon Youth and Community Centre. There was free pie and peas as well as activities for kids (like a bouncy castle!) to make sure that they were kept entertained whilst their parents got vital information that would help get them closer to employment.
On the morning of Thursday February 18th over 60 people came along to Shotton Community Centre for more free pie and peas with arts and crafts activities to keep the kids busy.
Both events were a huge success and East Durham Trust would like to thank the Community Centres for their assistance and their venues, the AAP for their continued support of the Community Job Club project, all partner agencies that attended and of course everyone who came along for advice. This won't be the last Job Fair we'll be hosting so watch this space!
